Mollie, one of Europe’s fastest‑growing payment service providers, announced the launch of Tap App, a mobile‑first POS that removes the traditional barrier of dedicated hardware. The app lets merchants instantly turn a smartphone or tablet with NFC into a secure payment terminal, offering three pathways: (1) use an existing device, (2) purchase any NFC‑enabled gadget from a retailer and add it to the Mollie ecosystem, or (3) adopt Mollie’s own dedicated terminals for high‑volume sites.
“Businesses have long been forced to fit their operations into rigid payment systems. Tap App ends that era of compromise,” says Rogier Schoute, Mollie’s Chief Product Officer. Regardless of the hardware mix, every transaction, report and settlement is consolidated in the Mollie Dashboard, eradicating manual reconciliations and providing a seamless experience for in‑store and online sales.
The app is available for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play throughout Europe and the UK. Pricing follows a simple per‑transaction fee, with an optional €20‑per‑month subscription that further lowers costs for high‑volume merchants.
Tap App opens new possibilities: retailers can launch pop‑up stores or market stalls instantly; hospitality venues can enable staff to accept payments at the table, speeding service; freelancers, plumbers and on‑site consultants can bill the client the moment the job is finished, dramatically improving cash flow.
